Our Services
The Department of Open School proposes to offer equal educational opportunities for all those deserving.
The Department of Electronic Dissemination is responsible for producing audio video materials for the benefit of the school community.
The NIE library could be regard as a national educational information centre in the country. It is intended to develop it as a virtual library with online facilities.
The Department of Inclusive Education is responsible for the introduction of the best learning practices to the system through research and experiments.
Faculty Objectives
Provide support for open learning and make it possible for everyone to use all available learning opportunities to develop and enhance their skills and aptitudes in order to achieve EFA (Education For All) goals.
Increase the focus on Radio and Television as communication technologies and their use to directly support a wide variety of learning processes.
Formulate long-term policies on EFA and establish co-ordination among national and international agencies.
Ensure the provision of curriculum and learning instructional materials, modules and web based learning as necessary for the system.
Develop and automate the NIE library system as Virtual Information Centre in the field of education with on line searching facilities.
Imply and promote the inclusive education concept to be appropriated into Sri Lankan situation in order to achieve EFA goals.
